MGM Grand on January 24, 2012: The MGM announced that a Hakkasan restaurant would soon (soon meaning NYE 2013,
so, not that soon) would make its Las Vegas debut at the MGM Grand in the space
formerly occupied by Studio 54. If we start saving today, we may be able to afford
a meal by then.
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on February 2, 2012: The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will be closing its sleek, shiny poker room in favor
of, well, something else. The hotel will still have a poker room, but it will be
considerably smaller and moved to a separate area. So much for being all in.
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on February 2, 2012: Today in DJ Residency News You Probably Do Not Care About, it was announced that
Jersey Shore star DJ Pauly D would be taking up residency at the Hard Rock Hotel &
Casino.
Bellagio on February 2, 2012: The Bellagio announced that the Hyde Bar will open sometime in February, 2012, in
the space formerly occupied by the Caramel. This Spanish-influenced bar sounds
like it could be a pricey endeavor, but we will hold our judgement for later.
Tropicana on February 3, 2012: Nikki Beach will become the SPF Beach Club this Summer at The Trop. This is the
latest in 3-letter name changes at the hotel, following on the heels of the RPM
Nightclub opening last month.
Mandalay Bay on February 4, 2012: While not exactly news, we just wanted to point out at UFC 143 will take place
Feb. 4 - the night before the Super Bowl - at the Mandalay Bay Events Center,
which is a nice way to warm up the biggest sports book day of the year.
Encore on February 4, 2012: Vegas favorite DJ Tiesto re-upped his contract over the weekend at the Encore
Hotel clubs XS and the Encore Beach Club. Tiesto - if that is his real name - will
get the Super Bowl festivities started on Friday night at XS.
MGM Grand on February 4, 2012: LL Cool J will host the FINAL PARTY ever at Studio 54 on Saturday night, with the
club closing this weekend as part of the major renovations taking place at the MGM
Grand.
Hooters on February 10, 2012: After months (and months, and months) of speculation, the Hooters Hotel will
reportedly be sold in February. So long, $3 Blackjack tables and mediocre wings
...
Treasure Island on February 14, 2012: Treasure Island announced that Senor Frogs Restaurant is set to open in April,
2012. The Frog is a popular joint in St. Thomas, Cancun and Puerto Rico, and odds
are you have probably seen your cheesy uncle wearing one of their t-shirts.
Mandalay Bay on February 27, 2012: Aureole at Mandalay Bay is one of a number of restaurants participating in a just
announced Vegas Restaurant Week starting in late-February. Prices will not end up
cheap despite the discounts, but they will certainly be lower than normal.
Mandalay Bay on March 5, 2012: Mandalay Bay announced it will re-open its beach for the summer beginning March
5th. Wow, that winter was really something, huh?
Venetian on September 2, 2012: It was announced this week that "The Phantom of the Opera" will be shutting down
after a 6-year run at the Venetian. A favorite with musical-loving tourists for
years, it has yet to be determined what will become of the theater that hosts it.
