Maybe someone's already asked your question. You can check the Frequently Asked Questions below:
1. Where is your review of...?
This site is a hobby and most of its revenue goes to a
charitable foundation. Because it's maintained largely by
volunteers, we can't review everything and still keep it
up to date. So, we only review hotel-casinos (not hotels
only, no casino only--except the Western because it's so
awesome). We also cannot cover all the very remote properties
that are not in "Las Vegas" such as Red Rock,
Aliante and Railroad Pass. As the Strip grows, we may drop
some of the other far off-strip properties as well.
2. How often is the site updated?
We update the site every week,
frequently several times a week. Of course we can't be everywhere
at once, so we don't guarantee that everything is up to the
minute, but we do that best that we can do. We welcome and
encourage new information or corrections in order to keep
it as current as possible. In fact, we rely on our readers
to help us keep up to date and be places we can't get to.
3. Do you get paid to do this?
This site is a hobby and everyone
involved has a real, full-time job to pay the bills. The site
does generate a little revenue, but not enough for anyone
outside of the third world to live on, so it pays for the
site, our travel expenses and a bulk of profit goes to a non-profit
foundation established in Mark's name. Mark was one of the
people who originally created this site.
4. Who are you?
There were once three of us, but
sadly, Mark "Stinky" Sinclair passed away in April 2006. Now,
it is Matt and Amy, who met in college. Mark was one of the
people who created the site and designed it, and he will never
be forgotten. Sadly, though, he can no longer help update
it, or stay up all night in the Gold Spike Diner talking about
anything and everything. We started this site because thought
it was time for a site that gave more frank reviews than the
ones trying to sell hotel rooms give out, so we started CheapoVegas.
From there, CheapoReno
seemed like a natural progression.
5. Why don't you like ___ ?
As we said, a small group of us
maintain the site. The site reflects our experiences and opinions,
and that's all they are: just opinions. You can disagree with
us, especially about the fancy high-falutin' hotels, but we
always stick to our cheapo roots.
6. What is full-pay video poker?
There are lots of different video poker machines in Vegas. Many have the same rules but different pay tables, meaning that, for example, some Double Bonus machines pay 9 for a full house and 6 for a flush, while others pay 10 for a full house and 7 for a flush. Since Nevada State gaming law requires Video Poker to be dealt randomly from a 52-card deck, all machines have an equal chance of dealing you a winning hand. Therefore, the 10/7 machine pays out more than the 9/6 machine over the course of time. You always want to look for machines with the highest payouts to increase your odds of winning. 7. How come Casino Boy is so dang
cute?
Remember the atomic bomb testing in the Nevada desert in the 1950s? During one of those tests, a young lad was wandering through the sage brush, collecting bottle caps he could trade for cash for his mother's much needed surgery. Suddenly, a flash of light and a burst of heat! The boy's face swelled, and his cheeks turned ruddy. He was transformed into an ever chipper boy with an unquenchable appetite for dazzling lights, table games, buffets, hard liquor and barely-dressed ladies.
7. Are you guys really as cheap as you say?
Yes, absolutely. We may be the cheapest people on the planet. It makes us endearing to strangers, but a pain in the butt to family and friends.
9. Did Mark really die?
Yes. And he will always be remembered,
loved and deeply missed. He was a wonderful person, we loved
him, and his absence is felt every day.
